“Frustrating when a last minute equaliser goes in” – Oldham Athletic fans react to 1-1 draw at home to Crewe Alexandra

Paul Scholes left frustrated as Oldham Athletic conceded an injury-time equaliser to draw at home to Crewe Alexandra.

Paul Scholes’ starting eleven consisted of Iversen, Hunt, Clarke ©, Edmundson, Nepomuceno, Dearnley, Missilou, Maouche, Branger-Engone, Baxter, Lang.

Bright start for Latics saw Callum Lang play a ball to Zak Dearnley who volleyed from distance, but Crewe Alexandra goalkeeper Ben Garratt managed to hold on to the effort.

On the 23rd minute Latics took the lead, Latics goalkeeper Daniel Iversen hit a long ball forward into the path of Callum Lang calmly chipped it over Ben Garratt and it impressively found the net (1-0).

Daniel Iversen was soon called into action at the other end, as he denied Paul Green from his low shot.

Half Time – Oldham Athletic 1-0 Crewe Alexandra 

Paul Scholes’ side nearly doubled their lead when Zak Dearnley heading into the hands of Ben Garratt.

Latics were forced into a change with the goalscorer Callum Lang being replaced by Chris O’Grady.

Former Oldham Athletic midfielder Paul Green did have the ball in the back of net in the final minute but the assistant referee already had his flag up for offside against Chris Porter who nearly scored, but he was denied by Daniel Iversen.

With seconds left of the game, a ball in from Crewe Alexandra midfielder Ryan Wintle found George Ray who managed to bundle the ball home and rescue a point for Crewe Alexandra (1-1).
