Blackburn Rovers could move for former defender from Crystal Palace

Blackburn Rovers are considering a move for Crystal Palace defender Scott Dann.

The Championship sides’ attempts to sign Grant Hanley from Norwich City are stalling meaning they could turn their attention to another familiar face, according to journalist Alan Nixon on Twitter.

Dann, who is 32 years-old, could leave Premier League side Palace this summer having seen his first team opportunities limited over the past couple of seasons.

He spent three years at Blackburn from 2011 to 2014 and is a target for his former employers.

Dann, who is a former England Under-21 international, is a vastly experienced defender who has racked up over 400 games in his career.

The 6ft 2inc defender was born in Liverpool and started his career at Walsall. He rose up through the youth ranks with the Saddlers and went onto play 69 times for them.

Dann also enjoyed loan spells away as a youngster at Redditch United, Hednesford Town and Danish side Køge BK.

Coventry City signed him in 2008 and he spent a season-and-a-half playing for the Sky Blues before earning a move to the top flight with Birmingham City.

Dann played  60 times for the Midlands side and won the League Cup in 2011.

Blackburn snapped him up for around £6 million following Birmingham’s relegation to the Championship.

Dann then moved onto Palace in 2014 and has been with the London side ever since. Could he now be on his way back to Ewood Park?
