Lincoln City and MK Dons join League Two pair in hunt for National League hotshot Murphy

According to a report from Football Insider, League One pair Lincoln City and MK Dons are among the sides taking an interest in Yeovil Town hotshot Rhys Murphy, with League Two sides Plymouth Argyle and Exeter City also said to be keen.

With the January transfer window now underway, clubs will be hoping to bring in some new faces to prepare for the remainder of the 2019/20 campaign. Two sides who are reportedly hoping to add some new players to their attacking ranks are League One duo Lincoln City and MK Dons.

The two sides sit in 16th and 20th respectively and will be hoping to climb up the table in the remainder of the season. To help them do so, they are hoping to add some firepower to their attacking ranks in the form of Yeovil Town striker Rhys Murphy.

Murphy has enjoyed a thoroughly successful first half of the season with the Glovers, netting an impressive 17 goals in 25 National League games so far, with Yeovil Town keen to return to the Football League. Yeovil is keen to keep Murphy on board to boost their chances of promotion but is aware of the interest in the aforementioned quartet, who have been keeping a watchful eye over the 29-year-old.

Murphy started his career in Arsenal’s youth academy, spending time out on loan with the likes of Brentford and Preston North End before joining Dutch side SC Telstar on a free transfer. He spent one year in The Netherlands, returning to England with Dagenham and Redbridge in the summer of 2013.

Since leaving the Daggers to join Oldham Athletic in 2015, Murphy has gone on to play for Crawley Town (loan), AFC Wimbledon (loan), Forest Green Rovers, York City (loan), Crawley Town (second loan spell), Torquay United (loan), Gillingham, Chelmsford City and Yeovil.
